The projects are to reduce harmful emissions through the recovery and utilization of 850,000 cubic meters of flare gas in Maroun 6 and 425,000 cubic meters from Maroun 3 Oilfield.
Pipe-laying work to transfer natural gas from Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (Petzone) in Khuzestan Province to Shadegan County in the same region has been completed, managing director of Iranian Gas Engineering and Development Company, a subsidiary of National Iranian Gas Company, said.
“The 40-km-long, 24-inch pipe branches off from the 5th Iran Gas Trunkline [IGAT-5] and will increase gas supply as feedstock to industrial plants, households, power plants and steel companies in the region,” Bahram Salavati was also quoted as saying by the Oil Ministry’s news agency.
The economic zone currently receives 15 million cubic meters of gas per day via a 30-inch pipeline.
Bid Boland Gas Refinery in southern Khuzestan Province is taking the lead in promoting environment-friendly practices to treat and reuse wastewater, the managing director of the refinery said.
“We are expanding wastewater treatment facilities in the refinery to do our fair share of curbing water consumption in a region that has been suffering from water scarcity for long,” Alimohammad Pour-Reza was also quoted as saying by the Oil Ministry’s news portal.
A new industrial wastewater plant that has so far cost $4.2 million and registered 70% progress is expected to go on stream in September, he added.

Two knowledge-based companies have signed contracts with Iran’s Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, affiliated with the Oil Ministry,
to inject new technologies in petrochemical sector.
Based on RIPI’s latest news, the institute is planning to work with Azma Sanj Pishro Company (ASP) in Tehran to transfer the knowledge of water- and oil-based nanofluid production, Mehr News Agency reported.
The institute, in return, has committed to provide technical consultation and support, commercialize ASP’s petrochemical products, make research and development investments and expand the tech firm’s market.
The second contract is forged with Toftech company operating in Isfahan, the institution said.
Toftech’s major mission is the manufacture of advanced scientific devices used in laboratories, including mass and ion-mobility spectrometers (IMS).
