Iran and Armenia explored grounds to boost collaboration in the energy sector in a meeting Monday between the visiting Economy Minister of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan, and Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian in Tehran.

Afghanistan’s first passenger train to Iran will start operating in the next Iranian year (starting March 20), according to the head of Afghanistan’s Railway Authority.
“This project is among ARA’s main plans for next year. The passenger train will have a capacity of 1,100 passengers to the neighboring Iran, which can increase to 1,300 on the return trip,” Mohammed Yama Shams was quoted as saying by Fars News Agency.
The official added that this train will run daily between the two countries.

The average annual inflation gap measured by the Statistical Center of Iran among income deciles stood at 9.5% in the 10th Iranian month (Dec. 21, 2020-Jan. 19), indicating a 0.2 percentage increase compared with the previous month (9.3%).
The inflation gap in “food, beverages and tobacco” group among income deciles increased by 0.3 percentage points and that of “non-food and services” group widened by 1.2 percentage point compared with the month before.
The average goods and services Consumer Price Index in the 12-month period ending Jan. 19 increased by 29.8% for the first decile (those with the lowest income) while it grew 39.3% for the 10th decile (those with the highest income).

A former board member of Bank Maskan, the state-owned housing lender, Dehnavi is a faculty member of the Financial and Banking Department of Allameh Tabataba'i University. He holds a PhD in economic science from Tarbiat Modares University.
Islamic Azad University and Martyrs and Veterans Affairs Foundation have launched an initiative to support startups active in agricultural technologies (AgriTech) and expand Iran’s startup ecosystem.
During a meeting on Sunday, Mohammad Javad Sadri, the head of commercialization affairs at IAU’s tech park, and Yaser Abdi, the head of Kosar Holding Company, affiliated with the foundation, also signed a collaboration deal to establish a startup accelerator specialized in AgriTech, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The agreement also envisages the implementation of joint research projects on food safety and the establishment of a research and innovation fund.
Speaking at the event, Sadri said the deal will help introduce new technologies into agricultural industries, commercialize innovative ideas developed by tech teams and generate knowledge.
“We expect to hire mentors and start startup acceleration process soon. By using the state’s financial resources, we plan to support tech teams active in the sector. Hopefully, we will be able to extend support to at least 30 startups by the end of the current Iranian year [March 20],” he added.
Iran’s High Council of Transportation has approved a 25% hike in train fares as of Jan. 20 due to the decline in the number of passengers per train following measures to curb Covid-19 transmission.
Intercity passenger trains are allowed to increase fares by 25% on condition that they sell tickets at up to 50% of train’s compartment’s seating capacity, Fars News Agency reported.
According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, the national state-owned company kept five million train seats empty in the current year (March 2021-21) compared with last year.
