Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola might not be making any more additions to his first team, but indicated the club will sign Iranian-Australian teenager Daniel Arzani before the transfer window slams shut.

Arzani was the youngest player to feature at the 2018 World Cup with the 19-year-old appearing off the bench for the Socceroos in Russia and quickly catching the eye, Goal.com reported.

Currently owned by A-League side Melbourne City, a club part owned by the City Football Group, Manchester City is expected to seal a $500,000 transfer this weekend for Arzani, who is following in similar footsteps to fellow Australian Aaron Mooy.

Like Mooy, Arzani will likely be loaned out straight away with Celtic looming as his likely destination.

Though not mentioning the 19-year-old specifically, Guardiola hinted that the club’s next signing will be one for the future with the Spaniard content with how his current squad is shaping up.

“We will see,” Guardiola said when asked about transfers. “If at the end we decide to bring another one it’s because he’s a special player. He can be a special player for the future, not to have one more player for the number”.

City has made just two signings this off-season in the form of Riyad Mahrez and Philippe Sandler with Arzani’s capture set to be one of investment rather than first-team need.

Arzani has turned down interest from Tottenham and Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais in order to put to pen paper with City and is eager to link up with Tom Rogic at Celtic on a two-year loan deal.
