“According to the Sixth Five-Year Development Plan (2017-22), air ticket prices on domestic routes are liberalized and are not set by the government or Ministry of Roads and Urban Development; airlines set the prices themselves,” Maqsoud Asadi-Samani, the secretary of the association, told Fars News Agency.
A survey conducted by the Social Security Organization’s Research Institute of over 700,000 applicants of unemployment insurance benefits shows 61.9% of them were the head of households and 27.1% lived in families with another wage earner.
According to Rouzbeh Kerdouni, the head of the institute, 40.4% of the respondents were women and 59.6% men.
Noting that 21.2% of those surveyed were single and 72.4% married, he added that of those who had applied for unemployment benefits, 22.6% had permanent and 77.4% held temporary contracts with their employer, 86.4% of them had never received benefits and 76.7% of respondents said they had applied for unemployment insurance.

Shaparak, the main payment settlement network in Iran, processed 2.92 billion transactions worth 4,875.12 trillion rials ($16.25 billion) in the last calendar month to Sept. 21.
Compared to the month before, it was up 0.82% and 2.23% in volume and value, respectively, according to the monthly report published on Shaparak website.
The transactional value rose 94.5% compared to the same period last year when 2.30 billion transactions worth 2,505.36 trillion rials ($8.35b) were processed. In volume terms it showed 27.59% growth on an annualized basis.
The report attributed the surge in the value of transactions mostly to galloping inflation. As for other factors, Shaparak referred to the increasing number of receiving instruments, debit cards plus the growing tendency to use other payment methods instead of cash.
Coming on the heels of the chaotic forex market, gold prices shot up in Iran on Sunday as the Emami gold reached 161 million rials, rising 5.5 million rials or 3.41% in one day.
It was the highest price ever for the precious metal. While gold prices in Iran are always influenced by currency rates, the precious metal has overtaken due to the frenzy of buyers seeking a safe haven as their rial savings keep shrinking at terrible speed.
Half-Bahar Azadi gold coin gained 5.7% and was quoted at 87.5 million rials. Likewise, one gram of 18-karat gold rose 2% to reach 14.48 million rials.
The foreign exchange market in Iran is experiencing unprecedented highs as major currencies continue to rise against the national currency.
In the open market the dollar was quoted at 312,000 rials on Sunday -- up 4,500 rials or 1.5% compared to Saturday’s close. It had climbed above 300,000 rials last Thursday after struggling to break past the strong resistance level for two weeks.
The euro and pound sterling remained unchanged at 363,490 rials and 401,470 rials, respectively. The most significant hike Sunday was for the UAE dirham with 1.51% daily growth closing at 85,800 rials.
Several technology centers have come on stream in the northeastern province of Golestan to extend infrastructural support to fledgling startups and knowledge-based companies.
Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari inaugurated tech projects in Golestan Province and visited startups at the province’s academic centers during a daylong trip to Golestan on Saturday, the vice president’s website Isti.ir reported.
The first project was an innovation center specializing in health tech at Golestan University of Medical Sciences, which offers virtual visits for clinical diagnosis and post-treatment support and consultancy services.
The tech center is also seeking to provide technical, scientific and commercial support to innovative teams, aiding efforts to commercialize their ideas.
