Parliamentary Advisor Meets Houthi Delegation

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, a foreign policy advisor to Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, met a top-level delegation from the Houthi Ansarullah movement on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in the Yemeni war.

Amir-Abdollahian denounced the Saudi-led airstrikes that have been pounding the Houthis’ positions for about two years.

“Riyadh’s wrong approach on Yemen has intensified the conflict in this country,” he was quoted as saying by ICANA in the meeting with the delegation.

A conflict between the Yemeni government led by the Houthi movement and the fugitive president Abd-Rabbuh Mansur Hadi has killed thousands of people and triggered a humanitarian crisis in one of the Arab world’s poorest countries.

An Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia intervened in the conflict by launching an air campaign in March 2015 to restore Hadi to power and prevent the Houthis and forces loyal to the former president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, from taking the reins of the country.
