Iran’s first smart pharmacy opened at the Tadbir Medical Complex in Urmia, West Azarbaijan Province. Utilizing robotic technology, the robot is capable of dispensing medication automatically. It is hoped that the robot will help increase the medical center’s efficiency and profit.
The smart system scans prescriptions, picks the drugs from the shelf with a robotic hand, puts them in packages and finally dispenses them to customers.
Furthermore, the robotic pharmacy can be connected to an online platform through which it can directly receive prescriptions from physicians and prepare the medicine.
Employing smart methods can reduce the risk of medicine getting mixed up as the drugs are handled by machines and not humans who are more prone to error.
