Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized Washington’s decision to resume nuclear weapons testing, calling it a “regressive and irresponsible move” that endangers global security.

In a statement on Thursday, Araghchi said the United States, while rebranding its Defense Department as the “Department of War,” was acting like a “nuclear-armed bully.” He accused Washington of hypocrisy for resuming nuclear tests while continuing to pressure Tehran over its peaceful nuclear program.

The Iranian diplomat said such actions violate international law and undermine decades of efforts toward nuclear non-proliferation. He urged the international community to hold the US accountable for what he described as a dangerous step backward in global disarmament.

The remarks came after President Donald Trump announced that the US would restart nuclear tests, citing the need to maintain its strategic advantage amid growing global competition.
