Iran's box office earnings during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21) stood at 2.16 trillion rials ($18.28 million) to register an increase of 354.73 billion rials ($2.99 million) or 19.58% compared with last year’s similar period.
A total of 51 movies were screened in Iranian theaters during the eight months, which were viewed by 18.7 million people, according to data published on www.panel.cinemashahr.ir--the official Iranian cinema website providing detailed information on box office earnings to the public. The outlet became operational on Feb. 25, 2019.
The number of moviegoers witnessed a year-on-year decrease of 9.47% during the period under review.
The average cinema ticket prices stood at 115,854 rials ($0.97), noticeably up by 28,146 rials ($0.23) or 32.09% year-on-year.
