Iran's box office earnings during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Nov. 21) stood at 2.16 trillion rials ($18.28 million) to register an increase of 354.73 billion rials ($2.99 million) or 19.58% compared with last year’s similar period.
A total of 51 movies were screened in Iranian theaters during the eight months, which were viewed by 18.7 million people, according to data published on official Iranian cinema website providing detailed information on box office earnings to the public. The outlet became operational on Feb. 25, 2019.
The number of moviegoers witnessed a year-on-year decrease of 9.47% during the period under review.
The average cinema ticket prices stood at 115,854 rials ($0.97), noticeably up by 28,146 rials ($0.23) or 32.09% year-on-year.
