Media claims about Iran’s uranium enrichment to 84% purity level are made with the aim of ramping up pressure on the Islamic Republic ahead of the quarterly meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors, a lawmaker said.
A total of 252 wastewater treatment plants with a capacity of 5.7 million cubic meters per day are operating in different parts of Iran, the deputy for supervision and planning at the National Water and Wastewater Engineering Company of Iran (Abfa) said.
“Currently, 53% of the population, equivalent to 36 million people, are covered by the sewerage system,” IRNA also quoted Hashem Amini as saying.
“At present, 71,114 kilometers of transmission lines have been laid across the country and more than 8.5 million households are connected to the wastewater collection network,” he added.
The official noted that 87 wastewater treatment plants, with a total capacity of 1.739 million cubic meters, are under construction.

“The water in the dam has declined by 10% compared to last year and 79% compared with the long-term average,” the official said.
Imam Khomeini Port in the southern Khuzestan Province handled 40 million tons of goods during the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022-Feb. 19).
This included 14 million tons of essential goods, 5 million tons of minerals and construction materials, 1.7 million tons of oil products, and 15.7 million tons of petrochemical products, according to a local official.
“The containerized shipping volume stood at 112,000 TEU [twenty-foot equivalent unit] during the period,” Davoud Chegeni was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.

Iran’s exports exceeded 3.25 million tons worth $1.67 billion during the period, registering a 3.41% and a 23.81% rise in weight and value year-on-year, respectively.
The services sector had the worst business environment in the third quarter of the current Iranian year (Sept. 23-Dec. 21, 2022), latest data related to the National Business Environment Index, measured by Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, indicate.
The index measures business friendliness of Iran’s economy, with 10 indicating the worst grade and a decline showing an improvement in the business environment.
The index stood at 6.07 points for the services sector, which was followed by industrial and agriculture sectors with 5.96 and 5.83 respectively.
Among 21 fields of business activities surveyed, the worst three business environments were registered by “construction”, “real-estate services” and “professional, scientific and technical activities”, while the top tier was occupied by “finance and insurance”, “mining” and “human health and social work”.
Economy Minister Ehsan Khandouzi says Iran and China talked about increasing the share national currencies in two-way trade during President Ebrahim Raisi's visit last week to Beijing.
The Central Bank of Iran wants to gradually expand the scope of the newly-established Currency and Gold Trade Center (CGTR) so that it could replace the free (unofficial) market, the CBI governor Mohammad Reza Farzin said.
“Once the market is fully developed the CBI will be able to administer policies to better manage the currency market. The center is intended to mark the beginning of a new approach to managing the forex market,” he said in Tehran Tuesday at the ceremony to launch the CGTR.
The regulator has unveiled the center apparently in the latest bid to control forex and gold prices that have jumped to levels unseen in the history of the country.
Tehran Stock Exchange's main index, TEDPIX, gained 65,154.31 points or 4.09% on Tuesday to end at 1,659,416.45. The TSE equal-weighted index climbed 2.82%.
About 18.7 billion shares worth 115.4 trillion rials ($256.4 million) changed hands for the day. Trading at TSE and over-the-counter Iran Fara Bourse starts on Saturday and ends Wednesday.
Mellat Bank led the winner’s list as its shares jumped 7.13% to 2,764 rials per share. Technotar Engineering Company was the big loser among all TSE-listed companies plunging 3.81% to 12,610 rials per share.
