The National Day of Exports was marked in Iran on Sunday in a ceremony attended by top government officials and major economic players and traders.
According to Mojtaba Khosrotaj, the official at the helm of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, 500 companies account for 82% of Iran's exports, IRNA reported.
“Exports by two main sectors of steel and petrochemicals are twice the country’s traditional exports. Therefore, to improve the structure and diversify exports of the country, we need to increase the share of knowledge-based commodities and exports of technical, engineering and information technology services,” he said.

As part of a move to curb unwanted and annoying text message ads, Iran’s Communications Regulatory Authority has blocked 21,733 mobile phone numbers since November 2017, when an automated monitoring system was launched.
Through the system, people can file complaints with the CRA against the ad sender by sending their phone number to the communications ombudsman via text message. People can simply send the ad senders’ number to 195. The regulator receives the complaints and blocks the number after issuing warnings if the advertising company continues sending the crap that many consider as spam.
CRA Director Hossein Fallah says the cost of mass advertisement through text messages is significantly low. The ombudsman is planning to curb the number of such adverts by cracking down on firms indulging in the method which for long has become a nuisance.
Partnering with experienced teachers, a local startup named 'Pouyanesh' has started offering educational courses online.
Through its website, pouyanesh.com, the startup offers training courses from basic sciences and engineering to music and the arts. Courses cost 100,000 rials (73 cents) an hour with the firm claiming a share of the earnings made by the teachers.
The firm's director, Masoud Qasemi, has written an introduction for the startup at the local website stshow.ir. he says those interested can easily search and register for courses, undergo training and receive certificates. The firm offers courses in collaboration with centers of higher learning.
