The grain crops in Russia will be over 100 million tons, though 1.5 million hectares of land in eleven regions were hit by drought, Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 television channel on Sunday, Tass reported. “Russia’s eleven regions were hit by drought, and crops were lost at 1.5 million hectares of land–these losses are quite big, but in fact this was not the biggest drought we had,” he said. The Russian Ministry of Agriculture forecasts the grain crops in the country this year at 102.9 million tons, the ministry’s press service told Tass.
