Governor of Isfahan Province Rasul Zargarpur visited a series of touristic attractions in Aran-o-Bidgol County, including Maranjab Caravanserai and Salt Lake in Maranjab desert. In his visit the governor pointed out a demand for development of tourism industry and safety of visitors in the region.

He deemed the establishment and completion of tourism infrastructures in Aran-o-Bidgol necessary and said, “The natural beauty of the desert, the numerous shrines, caravanserais, and other historical monuments have always attracted tourists from Iran and elsewhere. Thus the visitors deserve care and attention.”

Among the touristic capacities of the region, he mentioned sand-treatment, cycling, motorcycling, ski, dune rally, camel-ride, star-gaze, and sightseeing. The capacities should be put to the best use, he said.

Since the development of Isfahan Province has been planned on tourism and services, none of its attractions, natural or historical, should be ignored, Donya-e Eqtesad quoted the Isfahan governor as saying.

As for Maranjab Caravanserai, he noted that the monument has been an important place for dismounting the camels. Caravans, whether northbound or heading to central cities, frequented Maranjab caravanserai.

Maranjab Caravanserai, also called Maranjab Castle, is 160 km south of Tehran, on the southern shore of Qom Salt Lake. In 2000, it was repaired and restored to its past glory.
