Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian and Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian president’s special envoy for the Middle East, held a phone conversation on Saturday to discuss the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria and Yemen, IRNA reported.
The Iranian diplomat described Russian air raids against militants in Syria as an “effective” move, but stressed that Tehran and Moscow believe that efforts should be focused on finding political solutions to regional crises.
The two sides voiced concern over the Saudi-led military campaign against Yemen and the grave humanitarian situation in the impoverished Arab country.
