In a message on Saturday, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani congratulated Ismet Yilmaz on his election as Turkish parliament speaker, IRNA reported. Larijani highlighted the important role of the parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in expansion of "friendly" relations, calling for regular consultations between Iranian and Turkish lawmakers. Turkey's parliament voted on Wednesday to elect Yilmaz as speaker. He formerly served as defense minister from the ruling AK Party.
