Some 722,000 tons of goods valued at $528 million were exported via Isfahan Province during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21), which despite an increase of 5% in terms of volume, fell 9% in value compared to previous year’s corresponding period, said director general of Isfahan’s Customs Bureau, Asadollah Ahmadi Vanhari. Mehr News Agency quoted the official as saying on Wednesday that petrochemicals, accounting for 31% of Isfahan’s exports, were the leading exported commodity followed by steel products (29%), carpets (14%) and ceramics (5%). According to Vanhari, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan were the main export destinations.
