The Consumer Price Index for rural areas in the 12-month period ending on July 21, which marks the end of the fourth Iranian month, grew 13.1% to remain unchanged compared to a month earlier, according to the latest report by the Statistical Center of Iran.  The overall index (using 2011 as the base year) stood at 225.1 during the month, indicating 1.2% growth compared with the previous month.  Year-on-year increase of 12.6% was recorded in price index compared with the similar month of the previous year – 1.1% lower than the changes recorded in the preceding month. The index for food, beverages and tobacco group reached 247.6 registering 1.4% growth compared with a month earlier. The index for this group increased by 14.7% compared with the same month last year and the annual inflation stood at 10.4%.  Moreover, the CPI for non-edible products and services stood at 210, which indicates 1% increase compared to a month before. The group registered an annual point-to-point inflation of 11.6% compared to the same month a year before. The annual inflation for this group stood at 15.6% in the 12-month period ending on July 21 dropping slightly compared with the 12-month period ending on June 21 when the rate stood at 16.3%.
