The minister of economic affairs and finance said the government has no intention of changing the interest rates on deposits until the yearend. However, the government has already started to consider reducing interest rates on deposits, IRNA quoted Ali Tayebnia as saying on Friday. Referring to the decrease in the inflation rate from 40 to 17 percent, the minister said it is natural for the interest rates of the money market to follow suit. However, it doesn’t mean that the government aims to intervene in the market and dictate the interest rate, Tayebnia stressed, saying that the government will adopt appropriate policies so that the rates naturally decrease in line with the market.
