Ashkhabad has again called for improvement of trade and economic ties with Iran, said Tajif Sit Mamet, the representative of Turkmenistan’s vice president on a tour of the southern Shahid Rajaee Port on Tuesday. “Turkmenistan has access to international waters via Iran and the two ports of Amirabad and Shahid Rajaee play a pivotal role in this regard,” IRNA quoted him as saying. Expressing his country’s intention to expand the transit of goods via the North-South Corridor through Shahid Rajaee Port, he appreciated the support by Iranian port officials in recent years.
