An ‘Occupy Wall Street’ poster exhibition will be hosted at Abolfazl Aali Art Gallery in Tehran on the eve of the 4th anniversary of the protest movement in New York against social and economic inequality in the world.

The exhibition comprises 36 posters designed by foreign artists who are mostly from the US, Mehr News Agency reported.

Saeid Khavarinejad, a visual arts researcher who is organizing the exhibition, said the event was the culmination of his research “on the aesthetic aspects of the Occupy movement.”

The protest movement began on September 17, 2011, in Zuccotti Park, in New York City’s financial district. It received global attention and spawned the Occupy movement against social and economic inequality and the growing income inequality and wealth distribution in the US between the so-called wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.

The protests quickly led to “occupy movements” around the world.

Noting that a summary of his research on the protest movement will be distributed in the form of brochures at the exhibition, Khavarinejad added that the event aims to introduce the artists and their works to Iranians.

Enthusiasts can visit the gallery from August 29 to September 5, at Hozeh Honari (Art Forum), Somayeh St., Hafez Ave., Tehran.
