Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei advised judiciary officials and personnel on Tuesday to make efforts to root out corruption, among other wide-ranging recommendations with respect to the duties of the government branch.

“On the topic of fighting corruption, the main task, is tackling corruption-generating structures and dismantling them,” Ayatollah Khamenei was quoted as saying by Leader.ir.

He endorsed previous remarks by Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, saying that the first priority is to eliminate any corruption inside the judiciary itself.

Pointing out that most judges are honest and loyal, the Leader said, “We need to combat the few corrupt people who are harming others’ work and reputation.”

He also underscored the significance of preventive measures against crime and stated that for example executing the law and determining the owner of lands in cities and villages can prevent problems such land-grabbing.

In another part of his speech, the Leader noted that one of the judiciary’s responsibilities is to safeguard the rights of the people by protecting their mental health.

“Stopping known or unknown individuals” from spreading lies on social media falls under the responsibilities of the judiciary, Ayatollah Khamenei said.

The Leader was referring to the storm of lies propagated by certain social media accounts and websites that aim to warp individuals’ minds and distort the truth.

He also said that the judiciary must act without considering emotions and only based on facts to stand up for the rights of the Iranian people.

Resistance and Victory

The Leader also said the reason why the Iranian nation has emerged victorious against enemies time and time again is its fierce resistance against outside pressure.

According to Ayatollah Khamenei, “resilience”, “endeavors” and “a refusal to be intimidated” are the top reasons for Iran’s victories.

“This divine tradition can be repeated in all time periods,” he said.

He added that over the past four decades, enemies have been waiting for the Islamic Revolution to fail and collapse, but they have been disappointed at every turn.

Ayatollah Khamenei concluded by saying that judges have an extremely difficult job but the spiritual rewards are high if they are guided by God in their rulings.

At the start of the meeting, Mohseni-Ejei gave an overview of the judiciary’s activities in the past year since he was appointed as the judiciary chief by the Leader.
