Construction of the 4th fixed steel jacket for South Pars gas field's Phase 12, with a length of 84 meters and 4,200 tons of weight, has been carried out successfully in 16 months, the oil ministry's public relations department reported.

The reported added that taking a final decision on the installation of the fixed platform depends on the results of drilling descriptive well on the gas field's Phase 12.

After the installation of facilities and completion of gas extraction operations, South Pars gas field Phase 12 will be able to provide 3 billion cubic feet of sour gas equivalent to 75 million cubic meters of sweet gas.

South Pars, as the largest gas field in the world, is shared between Iran and Qatar.

The giant field lies in the Persian Gulf waters, 105 km off Iran’s coast and provides half of Iran's domestic demand for natural gas.
