The overall Producer Price Index of the industrial sector stood at 545.4 in the first quarter of the current year (March 21-June 21), indicating a 13.7% increase compared with the previous quarter and 88.7% growth over the same quarter of last year.
The industrial PPI in the four-quarter period ending June 21 grew by 77.2% compared with the same period of last year, the Statistical Center of Iran said.
The sector’s PPI for the four-quarter period to March 20, 2019, which marked the end of Q4 of the last Iranian year, increased by 64.6%.
The rise in industrial PPI was mostly driven by an increase in producer inflation of “coal production industries-oil refineries” subsector, which reached 594.6 from 538.2, posting a 10.5% rise compared with the previous quarter.
The second biggest driver of industrial PPI in Q1 was for “motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers”. It grew 0.21% from 402.7 in Q4 of last year to reach 487.2 in Q1.
The producer inflation of “base metals”, the third chief driver of industrial PPI, grew by 11% quarter-on-quarter to reach 515.3 in Q1.
