ICT ministers of Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed the creation of a regional pact on information and communications technology.
Iran’s ICT Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi held talks with Russian Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media Minister Konstantin Noskov, Azerbaijan’s ICT Minister Ramin Qolizadeh and Omer Abdullah Karagozoglu, president of Turkey’s Information and Communication Technologies Authority, in Tehran on Wednesday.
Iran’s ICT minister said such a pact could "help foster digital economy in the region and protect it against the unilateralism of other countries".
"It about one year that we are working closely with Russia, Turkey and Azerbaijan towards our mutual goal … which is formation of a regional market for ICT products and services," the ministry's website quoted him as saying during a press conference.
Jahromi noted that the participating dignitaries emphasized the importance of boosting ICT cooperation among the private companies of the four countries.
