Navy Helps Disabled Foreign Tanker in Persian Gulf

Naval forces came to the aid of a disabled foreign oil tanker in the Persian Gulf that required repairs, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.    
“An international oil tanker was in trouble due to a technical fault in the Persian Gulf ... After receiving a request for assistance, Iranian forces approached it and used a tugboat to pull it toward Iranian waters for conducting the necessary repairs,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said without naming the tanker, ISNA reported.
International media reported that MT Riah tanker had recently gone missing in the region. 
Refinitiv data, cited by Reuters, showed that the last signal received from MT Riah was on July 14 and that it was in the Strait of Hormuz off the Iranian island of Qeshm. 
According to the data, the ship’s manager is UAE-based Prime Tankers.
