Iran imported 45,000 tons of red meat in spring (the current Iranian year’s Q1 from March 21 to June 21) to register an increase of 18,000 tons, or 66.67% compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to Alireza Rafiepour, the head of Iran Veterinary Organization.
Morteza Rezaei, deputy agriculture minister for livestock affairs, says red meat production is projected to rise 4-5% by the end of the current fiscal year (March 2020), which is a step closer to self-sufficiency, Fars News Agency reported.
