Motorcycle and Automobile Club of Aras Free Trade Industrial Zone (AFZ) is to host a 400-meter drag racing event at the zone on June 6-7.
Due to the large variety of vehicle classes in the zone, holding the race at the AFZ will increase the attraction of the race both for the audience and competitors, Tnews.ir reported.
Drag racing is a type of motor racing in which automobiles or motorcycles compete, usually two at a time, to be first to cross a set finish line. The race follows a short, straight course from a standing start over a measured distance, most commonly 402 meters.
Each driver is allowed to perform a burnout before each race. The motorist heats the driving tires and lays rubber down at the beginning of the track, improving traction. Each driver then lines up at the starting line.
Once a competitor is staged, their opponent has a set amount of time to stage, or they will be instantly disqualified by a red light on an electronic system known as Christmas Tree.
Otherwise, the system chooses a short delay at random once both drivers are staged, and starts the race.
