Khuzestan Exports Hit $5.5 Billion in 9 Months

More than 12 million tons of non-oil commodities worth $5.5 billion were exported from the southern Khuzestan Province during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Dec. 21) to register a 10% decline and 5% rise in weight and value respectively.
According to Gholamreza Baloutmirza, a local customs official, the exports mainly included steel, agricultural, handicraft, petrochemical and mineral products.
The Persian Gulf littoral countries, Iraq, Oman and Malaysia were the main export destinations, the Persian daily Donya-e-Eqtesad reported.
About 11 million tons of commodities worth nearly $5 billion were imported into the province during the same period.
Baloutmirza noted that Khuzestan earned 21 trillion rials ($184.85 million) from March 21 to Dec. 21, indicating a 13% decline year-on-year.
