Iraq’s Interior Minister Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban thanked Iran for backing the Iraqi government and people in their campaign against terrorism. “The Iraqi government and people will never forget aid and moral support by the Iranian government and people, and Iran’s continued backing is highly important to Iraq,” Ghabban said in a meeting with Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani in Tehran on Monday, ISNA reported.
Elsewhere, he described as “effective” and “insufficient” the measures taken by the US-led coalition against the so-called Islamic State terrorist group, emphasizing that the establishment of peace and security in Iraq can help improve the stability of the region.
