One of the reasons behind road accidents in Iran is the declining budget of the Islamic Republic of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization–the executive arm of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the spokesperson of Majlis Development Commission, Sodeif Badri, said.

The MP noted that over the past couple of years, the Plan and Budget Organization has cut down RMTO’s budget by up to 40% annually.

“Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization has identified accident-prone spots of the country’s roads and calculated the budget needed to improve their safety but PBO fails to cooperate with the organization through budget allocation,” News.mrud.ir quoted Badri as saying.
