Selected cinemas are hosting a collection of acclaimed short films since August 6.
Screening of the collection has been organized by the Art and Experience Cinematic Group under the title “Summer Screening”. Iranian Artist Forum in Tehran, Hoveyzeh Cineplex in Mashhad, Felestin Cinema in Hamedan and Bahman Cinema in Sanandaj are some of the venues showing the films, Cinematicket wrote.
Among the films are internationally acclaimed short works “Silence” co-directed by Farnoush Samadi and Ali Asgari, “It Rains Slowly “by Saeed Nejati as well as “Elephant’s Shadow” by Arman Khansarian. “Silence”, which premiered in the Short Film Official Competition at 2016 Cannes Film Festival, tells the story of a little girl, a Kurdish refugee, who refuses to translate the doctor’s words to her mother and prefers to remain silent.
“It Rains Slowly,” is a joint production of Qom Youth Cinema Society and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality from Turkey. The film is set in Turkey just before the 1980 coup d’état, narrating the story of a teacher who teaches his students how to stand up for freedom and fight injustice. “Elephant’s Shadow” is about a girl named Leila whose father is on his death bed and his only concern is the daughter’s future. Leila comes up with a plan so that her dad could die in peace.
The other three films are “#4 o’Clock” by Atefeh Mehrabi, “The Periodicity” by Ali Khoshdouni Farahani and “Marlon” by Dornaz Hajiha.
