Intelligence forces nabbed members of a terrorist team that had recently launched a failed grenade attack on a police station in a border area and also foiled a plot to smuggle explosives into the country. In a statement on Tuesday, the Intelligence Ministry said its forces had foiled two terrorist plots hatched by “Takfiri and separatist groups” in Khuzestan and Kurdestan provinces, Tasnim News Agency reported. One of the groups had launched a grenade attack on a police station in the western city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province “but it did not cause any damage due to police vigilance,” the statement said. In another operation, intelligence agents in Khuzestan and Kurdestan arrested six members of a terrorist team and confiscated 7 AK-47 rifles, three Uzi machine guns, 17 handguns, 8 grenades, night vision cameras and ammunition. The statement did not say where exactly the terrorists were apprehended. The team had plans to attack several targets in the central cities, it said.
