Cinema Verite, Iran International Documentary Film Festival, has called for entries for its 12th edition to be held in Tehran in December.

According to the Persian news website ISNA, the deadline for submissions is October 2.

The upcoming edition consists of different sections, including national competition, international competition, Martyr Avini Award and professional workshops.

The international section comprises three categories of short, mid-length and feature documentaries. The national section includes two categories of short (less than 45 minutes) and feature documentaries (more than 45 minutes).

Martyr Avini Award is dedicated to documentary films related to the sacrifices, selflessness and resistance of the Iranian people during the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war. All documentaries in all lengths, formats, and subjects produced between 2014 and 2016 are eligible to participate in the Special, Tribute, Retrospective and Panorama sections which are all non-competitive.

More information on the festival and its regulations is available on Irandocfest.ir. Organized by the Documentary & Experimental Film Center, the first edition of Cinema Verite was held in 2007. Over the past decade it has emerged as one of the important events on Iran’s documentary film calendar.
