General Outline of European Package "Reasonable"

The generalities of the package offered by European powers aimed at salvaging the 2015 nuclear deal are "reasonable", the parliament speaker said on Thursday. 

"The Europeans have made suggestions about oil sales, resolving banking issues and export-related matters, and it has been agreed that they introduce laws and regulations within the European Union to facilitate trade and the activities of businessmen. The general outline of the Europeans' offers is reasonable," Ali Larijani told reporters in the central city of Qom on Thursday, ICANA reported. 

Now the details of the proposals should be worked out and be implemented, he said, adding, "Negotiations are underway in this regard." 

The final decision can only be made after it can be assessed to what extent the proposed solutions can be put into practice, the official was quoted as saying. 

In separate remarks on Thursday, Larijani said continuing the negotiations with Europe over the nuclear agreement does not mean abandoning the strategy of relying on national resources to address the issues facing the country. 

"The Majlis and the administration are seeking to prepare the ground so that the domestic potential can be utilized," he told a group of economic officials.
