Iranian-Armenian Painter Showing Impressionist Works

Impressionist paintings of the late Iranian-Armenian painter Nahapet Nahapetian are on display at Naqsh-e Jahan Gallery in Tehran until August 2.

The 30 paintings were created through his artistic career with different subjects including portraits, landscapes, old bazaars and various tribes of Iran, ISNA reported on its Persian website.

Also a sculptor, Nahapetian (1941-1994) was born in Jolfa, Isfahan, and later moved to Tehran where he followed his artistic career till he was diagnosed with brain tumor in 1994.  Then he moved to the US for treatment but passed away there. The style of Impressionism is a movement in painting that originated in France in the 1860s characterized by representing the visual impression of the moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color. Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Edouard Manet, Edgar Degas and Camille Pissaro are the pioneers of this school of painting. The venue is located at No. 9, Mahmoudi St., Mohammad-Zamani St., Mojdeh St., Niavaran neighborhood.
