A member of the Combatant Clergy Association says the principlists have “reached an understanding” that they should remain united so that they can protect their shared interests. In an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, Hojatoleslam Reza Taqavi said, “(The principlists) have come to an understating that all principlist groups should stand together and consider integration,” adding, “We have come very close to unity.” He went on to say that the fact that various principlist groups, such as the Resistance Front, the Islamic Coalition Party and the Society of Devotees of the Islamic Revolution, are holding joint meetings is a “very positive” trend.
