Young Iranian volleyball players won over Thailand 3-1 at the 12th Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championships in Tabriz, East Azarbaijan Province, on Friday.
Iran took the first, second and fourth sets (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) while losing the third (22-25( in its first match of the tournament on the opening day, Mehr News Agency reported.
Iran is in Pool B along with Thailand and Taiwan. A total of 18 teams are participating in the games in six pools.
Despite its fourth place in the last year series, Iran is the most decorated team in the continent with seven titles and one runner-up place in its history. The Asian Volleyball Confederation and the Iran Volleyball Federation have jointly organized the biennial international tournament which ends on July 6.
