Iranian para weightlifter Siamand Rahman says he will rattle the world record at the Jakarta Asian Games slated for October 6-13.

The strongest para athlete ever claims he has the preparedness to improve the world record he set at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

In a talk with IRNA on Sunday, Rahman referred to the important upcoming events. “After Jakarta Asian Games, the important event is 2020 Tokyo Paralympic qualifications. I have continued my training after winning gold at Mexico Para Powerlifting Championships (last December) and currently I’m practicing in my hometown Oshnavieh (West Azarbaijan Province).”

Rahman cleared the bar of 310kg in the men’s over 107kg, setting a new world record and claiming his second consecutive Paralympic gold at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

Winning gold in the 2010 and 2014 Asian Para Games in Guangzhou, China, and Incheon, South Korea, as well as the Dubai 2014 Powerlifting World Championships and 2016 Powerlifting World Cup in Kuala Lumpur are among his other achievements.
