Head of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations and a former foreign minister, Kamal Kharrazi, denied claims that he recently attended secret talks with former US secretary of state John Kerry in Paris, saying he only met with former French prime minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.
In a statement released on Monday, Kharrazi’s office rejected as unfounded claims by Jason Osborne, a former adviser to US President Donald Trump, who said there are pictures of three Iranians who met with Kerry in Paris, Tasnim News Agency reported.
The office said Kharrazi was in Paris to participate in a meeting of “Leaders for Peace Foundation” initiated by Raffarin and attended a meeting with the former French premier.
“Just got pictures of the 3 Iranians who met with John Kerry yesterday. They are entering their hotel the “Prince De Galles”. Anyone knows who they are?” Osborne tweeted on Sunday, posting some photos of Iranians who he claimed had met Kerry.
An exiled Iranian journalist then replied to the question on the Twitter, saying one of them was Kamal Kharazi–who was Iran’s foreign minister from 1997 to 2005.
