Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with heads of parliamentary friendship groups at the foreign ministry building on late Sunday.
The activities of the groups and the effective role they can play to help expand ties with other countries were discussed during the cordial meeting, Fars news agency reported.
Elaborating on their plans, the parliamentarians presented their proposed mechanisms for further improvement of their interaction with the diplomatic apparatus.
Zarif expressed the foreign ministry's readiness to contribute to the current efforts of the parliamentary groups and stressed the significance he attaches to regular exchanges of views between the two sides. There are 29 friendship groups active in the Majlis which cover parliamentary relations with some 110 countries.
