In a message to his Myanmarese counterpart Thein Sein, President Hassan Rouhani extended congratulations to the Southeast Asian country's nation and government on the occasion of Myanmar's National Day, IRNA reported. President Rouhani also expressed hope that the two countries' officials would take effective steps to advance the "shared interests" of the nations. Myanmar's National Day marks the anniversary of the country's independence from Britain on January 4, 1948.
