China’s Sinopec said it received on Tuesday the first cargo of liquefied natural gas delivered to its Tianjin LNG terminal in the north of the country. The LNG will be regasified and supplied via pipeline to Beijing, Tianjin Hebei and Shandong areas, alleviating tight gas supply in the region, Reuters reported.  The cargo arrived from Australia aboard the Zhongneng Beihai LNG tanker, the company said a in press release.  Sinopec holds a 25% equity stake in the Australia Pacific LNG project in Queensland State.  The first 30,000-35,000-ton cargo had been expected at Tianjin on Jan. 10, a source told Reuters in December; it was not clear why there was a delay.  The Tianjin LNG project has the capacity to receive 3 million tons of LNG a year and supply 4 billion cubic meters a year of gas to the domestic market, according to Sinopec.
