Naval vessels on Tuesday fired domestically developed radar-evading Nasr and Noor missiles which successfully hit designated mock enemies targets in the Gulf of Oman during a major exercise of the armed forces.
A domestically upgraded Bell 212 helicopter of the navy, which has been equipped with a rocket-launcher and a machine gun, also carried out a combat operation for the first time and shoot at designated sea targets.
Elsewhere, the submarines of the Ghadir class conducted an operation, in which they searched for enemy submarines using passive sonar systems and fired torpedoes.
A SH-3D helicopter of the navy had fired the newest domestically manufactured torpedo which hit the designated target in the Gulf of Oman on Monday during the war game.
The armed forces started the massive drill on Thursday in an area covering 2.2 million square kilometers from the east of the Strait of Hormuz to the 10th parallel north in the Indian Ocean and in parts of the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan and the southern province of Hormozgan.
The army, navy, air force, air defense base and some units of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) took part in the maneuvers which will conclude today with holding a military parade.
