Tehran Municipality has published a database of safe urban areas on its website. Each of the sprawling capital’s 22 districts have a separate section on the website. By clicking on each area a list of neighborhoods are displayed. Through the municipality’s website Tehran.ir, users can survey each neighborhood and find the safe area closest to their place of residence or work which are marked on easy-to-read maps. All the maps can be downloaded. More than half a million people have visited the map section since it was launched over the weekend. The website includes post-earthquake guidelines. A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattled Meshkindasht town 50km west of Tehran in Alborz Province on Dec. 21.
