More than 1.4 million tons of bitumen worth $368 million were exported from Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (started March 21), the head of Hormozgan Industries, Mining and Trade Organization said.
Khalil Qasemi also told IRNA that India, Kenya, Tanzania, Oman and the littoral states of Persian Gulf were the main export destinations.
According to Qasemi, there are 22 bitumen production units in Hormozgan with an aggregate annual capacity of 5.8 million tons.
The southern Iranian province accounts for more than 40% of Iran’s bitumen exports and 6% of the world’s total export of bitumen.
