A well-known Shi’ite Iraqi scholar based in the Netherlands visited Tehran’s Encyclopedia of Islam Foundation on Sunday.
Mohammad Sa’id al-Tarihi, who is editor-in-chief of Al-Mausim quarterly, met Gholamali Haddad-Adel, the foundation’s managing director, MNA reported.
Haddad-Adel emphasized visits by orientalists and Shi’ite scholars of Islamic studies to Iran’s scientific centers such as Al-Mostafa Association in Qom and Astane-Qods Center for Research in Mashhad, and called for more scientific cooperation in compiling encyclopedia and introducing famous Shia scholars in Europe.
Al-Tarihi and his accompanying delegation received a full collection of the Encyclopedia of Islamic World.
The foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to compiling and publishing encyclopedia of the Islamic world. Founded in 1983 in Tehran, it specializes on Iranian and Islamic world studies, and has been a leading Islamic encyclopedia center; 18 volumes of the Encyclopedia have so far been published.
