Consumer prices in urban areas rose 16.8 percent in the 12 months ending in December 21 (marking the end of the Iranian month of Azar), according to the Statistical Center of Iran (SCI).
The consumer price index (CPI) at the end of the period stood at 202.5 points, showing a 2.0 percent hike compared to one month before, and 14.9 percent rise compared to the same month last year, the report said on Sunday.
The CPI for food, beverages, and tobacco in urban areas in the month ending in December 21 (Azar) stood at 243.6 points, showing an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the previous month and 12.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
The CPI for goods and services reached 188.4 points in Azar, registering a 0.8 percent increase compared to the previous month, and 15.9 percent increase compared to the same month last year, the report said.
The CPI measures changes in the price of a basket of consumer goods and services purchased by households.
The Industrial Production Index (IPI) reached 93.6 in the first six months of the current Iranian year (starting March 21, 2014), registering 6.6 percent growth compared to the same period last year, the CBI report said.
The Industrial Production Index (IPI) is an economic indicator that measures the real production output of manufacturing, mining, and utilities.
