Messenger app Telegram received an update over the weekend, which brings additional features and enhancements to the platform, including media albums, saved messages, and an improved search function.
According to Telegram’s official website, after installing the new update, whenever users send multiple photos or videos they are grouped into albums. Each album can include up to 10 photos or videos, arranged in the chat as ‘thumbnails’. The recipient of the message will receive one notification instead of ten.
Furthermore, users can control the order in which photos are sent with each photo showing its sequence number.
When viewing a photo from an album, other pictures from the same group can be seen as thumbnails in the lower part of the screen. Profile photos are now also displayed this way, which makes them much easier to navigate.
Through the new update, users can now bookmark important messages by forwarding them to ‘Saved Messages’ – a personal cloud storage for any messages or media.
The Saved Messages chat is always displayed at the top of the list in the sharing and forwarding menus.
The global search algorithm of the app has also been upgraded. The algorithm is used for finding public channels, groups and bots. Now users can search for public channels and bots by their titles, and popular items will always be displayed first.
