Iran exported 23,000 tons of different types of cheese worth close to $108 million to 21 countries during the six months to Sept. 22, the Persian newspaper Donya-e-Eqtesad reported, citing data from Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture. Iraq was the main export destination accounting for around 85% of Iran’s total cheese shipments during the six months. Other destination markets included Afghanistan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Qatar, the UAE, Kazakhstan and Canada. The average export price for cheese in H1 stood at around $3,382 per ton, which is tenfold higher than the average price for all of Iran’s export commodities.
