Children found a jug of historical coins early this week while playing in the suburban areas of Arak, Markazi Province, a senior heritage official said. Their parents immediately informed the provincial office of Iran’s Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization and the items were collected by the protection unit. Speaking to ILNA, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini, the head of the provincial ICHHTO office, said the jug contained some 70 metal coins dating back to Qajar Era (1785-1925). “The discovered relics will undergo legal procedures before they are registered and displayed in a museum,” he added. Reportedly, other locals who discovered similar coins earlier had also delivered the items to ICHHTO.
